Did God just close that door or should you persevere?

Did God just close that door or should you persevere?

At different points in my life, I’ve had experiences where I started questioning what God was doing (or not doing for that matter). Honestly, I didn’t know if He was closing the door or if He was waiting to see if I would push through and persevere.

As I walked through these different experiences, I couldn’t help but to always think about the movie, “Joy.” Joy is a movie about a very patient and dedicated, divorced mother who is not only struggling to provide for her family, but is living amongst a very dysfunctional family. The movie takes you on a journey as she invents a new kind of mop and the MANY obstacles she faces as she markets it to American moms.  Continue reading

Capturing God Opportunities

When I first entered the world of Social Media in January of 2012, I was meeting with a business coach. And I vividly remember sharing with her how I REALLY wanted to serve churches; I wanted to help churches with their online presence.

And when I shared this with her, she immediately said, “Don’t do it. You’ll never make money.” And because I was so new to this “harvest,” I took her words to heart and moved forward in other ways.

Not only are churches hiring people for these positions, but there are now multiple conferences for church leaders around this topic, Facebook groups, coaching groups and self-study courses.

As I’ve thought over this the past few days, I couldn’t help but ask myself, “Did I miss an opportunity to lead in this specific niche?”  Continue reading

Why “Keeping Your Options Open” is a Bad Idea

Maybe you can relate. You’re stuck and you have no idea as to what you’re doing or where you’re going. You pray and ask God to give you clear direction. And after some time, you begin sensing that God is speaking. You feel like you’ve heard from Him and are understanding where it is that He’s leading. But, after a few weeks or months, when things are not moving as fast as you thought they would, you start doubting; you start worrying. And deep down inside, you start questioning whether or not you really did hear from God. So, you decide to “keep your options open.” You start looking at other things you can do, places you can go, etc. And before you know it, you’re stuck in the same exact place. You never moved forward and really, you just spent the last year of your life moving backwards. Sigh.

This has been me during different seasons of my life. If I’m honest with you, there were times where I felt like I had to have that “cushion,” that security blanket just in case something didn’t work out. But really all it did was create more chaos, more worry in my life.  Continue reading
